Meet Dr. Tommie

Hello! I am looking forward to learning more about you and answering any questions you may have. In the meantime, here is a little bit about me.

About Me

I am a clinical psychologist and social worker who has been in practice for over a decade. I am passionate about helping people to feel more connected — to their emotions, in their relationships, and to the parts of their stories that deserve healing. I believe that the relationships we build (and the ones we come from) impact so much of how we navigate the world and how we feel about ourselves and our emotions.

Blending evidence-based practices with my deep understanding of and belief in attachment theory, I tailor treatment for each person’s goals. I draw from approaches such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialetical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic theory, and mindfulness-based interventions.

With a warm, accepting, and collaborative style, I create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore vulnerabilities, process past pains, and move toward greater emotional health and security. Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, parenting stresses, and/or are just feeling a bit lost and alone, my goal is to work alongside you to make meaningful and lasting changes.

Being part of peoples’ journeys to re-discover joy, increase self-compassion, and to confront and heal past pain is a true privilege. I don’t promise that every session will feel like the most fun part of your week--good therapy is hard work. I do promise, however, that our sessions will be a space for you to feel safe, appreciated, and challenged, and that our work together will help you grow and make progress building the life you want.

Thanks for taking some time to learn a bit about me and how I practice. I’d love to connect and start our work together!

A Few Random Tidbits About Me

    • I have a bassett/terrier mix named Rigatoni, who is incredibly loving and very mischievous.

    • My go-to relaxing visualization is a beach with a clear blue ocean.

    • My favorite ways to unwind are to watch garbage reality TV, to do the NYT daily games (the number of times I feel totally stumped by Connections is embarrassing), or to go to a work out class with an early to mid-aughts soundtrack

    • I know I use too many emojis and exclamation marks in my texts and I simply cannot stop. It’s important to know your limitations!!!! ☺️
