Child and Adolescent Therapy

Some common reasons kids and teens come to see me:

  • Low self-esteem and poor self-image and intense self-critique

  • Difficulty building meaningful and lasting friendships

  • Parents’ divorce/separation or other big family change

  • Feeling hopeless, unmotivated, worried, and/or disconnected

  • Explosive tendencies and difficulty coping with and managing intense emotions

  • Wanting a safe place to explore their identity and navigate social/family pressures and dynamics

One of the most important parts of my work with young people is creating a space that feels authentic and collaborative. Through genuine interest in what they like/who they are/what their day looks like, I create a space where they feel seen, secure and understood. With this as our foundation, I guide them in gaining greater insight into emotional and relational patterns and support them in strengthening their sense of self and self-worth. I also integrate evidence-based tools to build concrete emotion regulation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Sessions are tailored to each kid/teen’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals, finding a balance between skill-building and the deeper emotional and self-discovery work. Ultimately, my work with young people focuses on strengthening resilience, building confidence, and deepening connections—helping them create a life that feels meaningful, joyful, and fulfilling.

In my work with children and teens, I also like to partner with caregivers so that the skills and insights gained in sessions are reinforced at home. Caregivers are the most important people in a young person’s life and all of us working as a team is a vital piece of the puzzle.
